"As a business that was already committed to sustainability I was unsure as to how much value we would get from CodeRed. We were pleasantly surprised at the wealth of ideas that we had never even considered that were on the website and at the launch of CodeRed. We quickly signed up to take some actions. Some of our actions include making our ventilation fans more energy efficient and encouraging learning online rather than flying to conferences. We have also set up a website that specialises in eco friendly pet products (www.paw-print.co.nz) and so we now reuse some of the packaging that comes into our clinic in sending these products. We enclose a note with the products asking the customers to reuse or recycle the packaging.
We were lucky enough to win a spot prize of a carbon emissions assessment from the Cawthron Institute. We are really looking forward to going through this process and believe that we will be the first veterinary clinic in the country to do so."
